Walnut et al.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a seamstress in possession of a newly laundered piece of fabric must be in want of a cat to sit on it. However little known the feelings or views of such a seamstress may be on her first laying out this fabric, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding cats, that the fabric is considered as the rightful bed of someone or other of the cats.

Here we meet Walnut, a most honorable and well-proportioned cat with a prodigious ability to locate the most inconvenient location in the apartment to nap, whether it be on the ironing board, in the basket of freshly pre-washed fabric, or on the cutting mat on top of the pattern pieces. Being of Siberian heritage, Walnut is distinguished by his not one, nay, not even two, but three types of hair that he is capable of releasing onto expensive fabric at will.

Imma punch you if you try to make me move.

Walnut came to my husband and I via Craigslist in October 2010, and has been a delight, a nuisance, a source of laughter, a bedwarmer, an alarm clock, and a fabric sitter ever since.

But let us not forget some of the other distinguised cats held in high esteem over here at Cation Designs. Fenxi and Gummy have the privilege of residing in one of the most expensive cities in the United States, ensuring that every time I return home for the holidays, I will not leave with my black clothing unscathed.

Fenxi is five.

Gummy is two.

All of our family cats have a talent for flopping on their backs and looking cute.

Oh, cats. How I love them.
